Goals:

  1. District will ensure every student gets breakfast if not received at home.

  2. Allow 6th-8th grade students water bottles in the classroom to ensure adequate hydration. 

  3. Increase program staff, students, and parents to promote healthy lifestyles. 

  4. No foods with minimal nutrition value are provided after school programs or rewards for classroom. 

  5. Have activities available to students during recess time when they cannot go outside due to bad weather. 

  6. Discourage the use of physical activity or withholding recess as punishment. 

  7. Continue to provide tobacco use prevention education. 

Objectives:

  1. The entire school environment is aligned with healthy school goals to positively influence a student’s understanding, beliefs, and habits as they relate to good nutrition and regular physical activity

  2. All foods available on school grounds and at school-sponsored activities during the instructional day meet or exceed the district nutrition standards. 

  3. All Student participation in a quality physical education program including regular instructional physical education, co-curricular activities, and recess. 

  4. All students participate in instructional curriculums about the importance of healthy bodies, nutrition, and physical activities. 

  5. The district will incorporate community resources for speakers and programs within the classrooms, assemblies and organizations, drug awareness and health education. 

  6. The district will utilize a variety of opportunities to make community aware of the importance of nutrition and physical activities to student academic performance.
